Early Career Investigator Awards

The ASC2010 Early Career Investigator Awards are provided in the form of travel grants to early career scientists, and are intended to assist with expenses relating to their participation at the Conference. A particular focus of these awards in 2010 will be to support the attendance of researchers from the Asian region at the ASC2010 meeting, in order to help develop greater collaborative links between Australian and Asian researchers.

Up to six Early Career Investigator Awards are available to facilitate attendance at the ASC2010 conference. Four awards will be made to researchers located in Asian countries and two to Australian researchers.

Applicants from Australia will be eligible for up to $1,000 to contribute to registration, travel and/or accommodation costs.

Applicants from Asia will be eligible for up to $1,000 to contribute to travel and/or accommodation costs. In addition, they will receive complementary registration for the ASC2010 conference.

Eligibility
The applicant will be within five years of the award of their PhD and must submit an abstract to present at ASC 2010. This award is for bona fide travel requirements and persons who have or will receive funding for conference-related expenses from their departments, other than top-up funding where necessary, are not eligible.

Application Process
Early Career Investigators who wish to be considered for this award should indicate this on their abstract submission. They will also need to indicate that they meet the eligibility criteria with regards to award of PhD, provide a brief CV and also evidence that they will not use the scholarship to cover expenses to be met by their department (i.e. a letter of support from their department/department head following notification of award).

The ASC2010 Organising Committee, will inform successful recipients at the time of informing them of the success of their abstract. Payment can only be made against receipts for bona fide travel, accommodation and, where applicable, registration expenses incurred in attending the ASC2010 conference.

Review Process
The selection of recipients will be made by the ASC2010 Scientific Program Committee.
