Format of ASC 2010
The conference will include plenary sessions, symposia, scientific paper presentations and poster presentations.
- Plenary Sessions
There will be a number of plenary sessions featuring leading international and Australian speakers.
- Symposia Sessions
There will be a total of six symposia sessions, which will cover the conference theme of Molecules to Mind
(see Symposia Submission section of ASC 2010 website for further details about proposing Symposia)
- Concurrent Oral Sessions
There will be two afternoon oral sessions of free content (clustered by topic) on each day of the conference. Each session will involve three concurrent streams. Papers should be presented using PowerPoint projection only.
- Poster Sessions
There will be one poster session of free content (clustered by topic) on each day of the conference. The program will include periods of time devoted exclusively to viewing the posters. Posters should be (1m x 1.2m maximum presented in portrait style only).
General Abstract Information
Abstract are invited on any area within the field of schizophrenia research or treatment to contribute to the ASC2010 Conference. Abstracts are sought for symposia, oral and poster presentations.
All abstracts must be submitted online by 14 May 2010. Please note that the closing date for abstract submission will NOT be extended and abstracts will only be accepted if the author has registered for ASC 2010. All accepted abstracts will be published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry.

Abstract Submission Details
- Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed.
- Abstracts should be original work.
- All abstracts must conform to the following requirements:
- include a short title (up to 20 words)
- maximum 250 words
- structured with the headings: Background, Methods, Results & Conclusions
- include the presenting author's contact details including institution, address, email, telephone and fax
- indicate the preferred presentation format (oral, symposia or poster)
- Abstracts may contain tables, pictures, diagrams.
- Abstracts should NOT contain symbols such as Greek letters or arrows.
- All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
- Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar.
- Abstracts must be submitted by 14 May 2010 for consideration by the Scientific Program Committee. Authors will be notified of provisional acceptance of abstracts by 30 June 2010 and will also be notified if the abstract has been selected for an oral or poster presentation.
- To be accepted, abstract authors must be registered for the conference, by 15 July 2010.
- Abstracts are to be submitted in Microsoft Word format only .
Terms and Conditions:
- The submission of an abstract and the ticking of the box in the abstract submission form indicates an understanding of the following rules for participation in ASC 2010.
- All author(s) approve submitting this work for presentation.
- The author(s) transfer(s) all copyright ownership of the named abstract to ASC 2010.
- The Author(s) agree(s) to materially confine their presentations to information in the abstract if accepted for presentation; if an author has more than one abstract accepted, each presentation will be materially confined to the information in the abstract selected for the specific session.
- At least one author will be available to present the abstract if selected for the program. The authors will immediately notify the ASC 2010 Secretariat if they are unable to present an abstract or if the presenting author is changed.
- Authors must disclose potential conflict of interest, sources of funding and affiliations with sponsoring companies, if applicable. This should be indicated in the comment section of the abstract submission portal.
